Task: Design a set of ten unique achievement badges for a Web3 education platform specifically targeting Sierra Leone's tech community. These badges will be awarded to users upon completing various learning milestones, such as completing courses, participating in workshops, contributing to projects, or achieving certain levels of expertise. The badges should be visually appealing, memorable, and reflect both the Web3 theme and Sierra Leonean culture.

Badge Themes/Examples (Suggestions - Designers can propose alternatives):

To provide more direction and ensure variety, here are some suggested themes for the badges, representing different levels of achievement and Web3 concepts:

  • Level 1: Web3 Explorer: (Basic introduction to Web3 concepts) – Perhaps an icon of a compass or a map.

  • Level 2: Wallet Warrior: (Mastering digital wallets) – An icon related to security or a stylised wallet.

  • Level 3: Blockchain Basics: (Understanding blockchain technology) – A stylised representation of a blockchain or interconnected blocks.

  • Level 4: NFT Navigator: (Exploring the world of NFTs) – An icon representing digital art or a collectible.

  • Level 5: DeFi Dynamo: (Understanding Decentralised Finance) – An icon related to finance or decentralised networks.

  • Level 6: Smart Contract Savvy: (Understanding smart contracts) – An icon representing code or automation.

  • Level 7: DAO Disciple: (Understanding Decentralised Autonomous Organisations) – An icon representing community or governance.

  • Level 8: Metaverse Maverick: (Exploring the Metaverse) – An icon representing virtual reality or interconnected worlds.

  • Level 9: Web3 Architect: (Advanced Web3 development) – An icon representing building or constructing.

  • Level 10: Sierra Leone Web3 Pioneer: (Exceptional contributions to the local Web3 ecosystem) – Incorporate a strong Sierra Leonean symbol.

Deliverables:

  • Ten Unique Badge Designs: Each badge should be distinct and visually represent its corresponding theme.

  • Vector Format: All badges must be submitted in a scalable vector format (SVG or AI). This ensures they can be resized without loss of quality.

  • Coloured and Monochrome Versions: Provide both full-colour and monochrome (black and white or grayscale) versions of each badge for different usage contexts.

Requirements:

  • Scalable Vector Graphics: All designs must be in vector format (SVG or AI).

  • Consistent Style: Maintain a consistent visual style across all ten badges to create a cohesive set.

  • Cultural Elements from Sierra Leone: Incorporate elements that reflect Sierra Leonean culture, such as traditional patterns, symbols, or motifs. This could be subtle or more prominent, but should be thoughtfully integrated.

  • Different Complexity Levels: The badges should represent different levels of achievement, visually reflecting the increasing complexity of the Web3 concepts.

  • Clear Visual Hierarchy: Each badge should have a clear focal point and be easily recognisable at small sizes.

Judging Criteria:

  • Visual Appeal (35%): The overall aesthetic quality of the badges, including colour choices, composition, and visual impact.

  • Consistency (25%): The coherence and consistency of the visual style across all ten badges.

  • Creativity and Originality (25%): The uniqueness and inventiveness of the badge designs, particularly in their integration of Sierra Leonean cultural elements and Web3 themes.

  • Technical Execution (15%): The quality of the vector artwork, the clarity of the animation specifications, and the completeness of the style guide.

Submission Requirements:

  • Upload all deliverables (vector files, monochrome versions) to file-sharing service (Google Drive).

  • Provide a publicly accessible link to the shared folder.

  • Include a short written description (100-150 words) explaining your design choices, the inspiration behind your designs, and how you incorporated Sierra Leonean cultural elements.
