Task: Conduct comprehensive UX research focused on understanding the challenges and pain points Sierra Leonean users face when onboarding to Web3 platforms. This research will inform the design of a more user-friendly onboarding experience tailored to the local context. The research should employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques.

Research Objectives:

  • Identify the current level of digital literacy and Web3 awareness among potential users in Sierra Leone.

  • Understand users' motivations, needs, and expectations regarding Web3 platforms.

  • Explore the specific barriers and pain points users encounter during the onboarding process (e.g., wallet creation, understanding key concepts like gas fees, navigating decentralized applications).

  • Investigate the preferred learning styles and information channels of the target audience.

  • Identify opportunities for culturally relevant design and content that can improve user engagement and understanding.

Deliverables: A detailed UX research report (Google Doc / PDF format) that includes:

  • Executive Summary: A concise overview of the research objectives, key findings, and actionable recommendations.

  • Methodology: A detailed description of the research methods used, including:

  • User Personas: 2-3 detailed user personas representing key user segments based on the research findings. Each persona should include:

  • Findings: A clear and concise presentation of the research findings, supported by data (quotes from interviews, charts from surveys, usability testing metrics). Organize findings by key themes or research questions.

  • Recommendations: Actionable, specific, and prioritized recommendations for improving the Web3 onboarding experience for Sierra Leonean users. These recommendations should be directly linked to the research findings and address the identified pain points. Consider recommendations related to:

Submission Requirements:

  • Upload the report to a file-sharing service (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) and provide a publicly accessible link.

  • Include a short summary (150-200 words) highlighting the main findings and key recommendations. This summary should be suitable for sharing on social media or other platforms.

  • If applicable, include anonymized transcripts of interviews or recordings of usability testing sessions (with participant consent). This is not mandatory but highly encouraged.

Judging Criteria:

  • Depth of Research (30%): The thoroughness of the research process, the diversity and representativeness of the participant sample, and the use of mixed research methods.

  • Relevance (25%): The connection of the research to the specific challenges and opportunities of Web3 onboarding in Sierra Leone, considering the local context and cultural factors.

  • Clarity and Organization (20%): The clear and logical presentation of the research methodology, findings, and recommendations. The report should be well-structured, easy to read, and free of jargon.

  • Impact and Actionability (25%): The potential of the research to inform concrete design improvements and the practicality and feasibility of the recommendations.
